Classical Post Awards 2018 Anthony McGill

Clarinetist Anthony McGill is one of classical music’s most recognizable and brilliantly multifaceted figures. He serves as the principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic—the orchestra’s first African-American principal player—and maintains a dynamic international solo and chamber music career. He recently lent his talents to Julia Bullock in her creation of “A Dream Deferred: Langston Hughes In Song” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Always leaving the audience breathless in his profound performances, he continues carving an important path for other musicians.
