Classical Post Awards 2018 Ching-Yun Hu

Ching-Yun Hu is exceptionally forward-thinking with her entrepreneurial initiatives—creating two world-class piano festivals on two continents that are prominently rising in the classical music world. She founded the Yun-Hsiang International Music Festival in Taipei in 2012 and the Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy (PYPA) in 2013. Now onto its 7th year, PYPA has blossomed into one of the most highly-anticipated summer piano festivals on the East Coast with superstar pedagogue Gary Graffman who has taught there for the past several summers. The public concerts feature internationally celebrated pianists like Cliburn Gold Medalist Yekwon Sunwoo, Sony artist Simone Dinnerstein, and Deutsche Gramophone recording artist Dang Thai Son. Other luminaries of the piano world give guest lectures like Gilmore Keyboard Festival director Pierre van der Westhuizen. Though newly established, the 10-day festival has big things to come.
