Under the leadership of music director Teddy Abrams, whose tenure began in 2014, the Louisville Orchestra has sailed from troubled waters into a new era of prosperity and opportunity. Aiming to serve the entire city of Louisville and not just ticket buyers, Teddy and the orchestra have done non-stop community outreach, performances in alternative venues throughout the city, and colorful programming that includes several works by Abrams himself – including last season’s smash hit, The Greatest: Muhammed Ali, a work for soloists (including a local rap artist in the title role), chorus and orchestra. Abrams’s mission with the orchestra is simple: “We want to become known as the most interesting orchestra in the world.”
