Neave Trio Celebrates Release of Album Her Voice with Performance at SubCulture
The Performance is Set for November 10, 2019, and Will Be Presented by GatherNYC
The Boston-based Neave Trio—featuring Anna Williams on violin, Mikhail Veselov on cello, and Eri Nakamura on piano—is set to celebrate the release of their latest album, Her Voice, with a concert-style performance in New York in early November.
The release concert will be presented by GatherNYC and is set to be held at SubCulture, located at 45 Bleeker Street. This concert is part of a series from GatherNYC featuring live music from much-celebrated artists—it includes artisanal coffee and pastries alongside a one-hour concert in an urban oasis hidden beneath the streets of New York.
The trio’s album Her Voice was officially released on October 4, 2019, on Chandos Records.
It was inspired by—and created to honor—three distinguished women composers, featuring an enormous range of voices from the past. The album includes the charming, late Classical style of Louise Farrenc, the buoyant melodies of Amy Beach, and the haunting atmosphere of Rebecca Clarke.
The Neave Trio is often described as both “bright” and “radiant” by the classical community (WQXR), which, coincidentally, is what their Gaelic name translates to.
Her Voice marks the trio’s third album on Chandos Records, following French Moments (2018) and their Chandos debut American Moments (2016).
In their November 10, 2019, concert, the trio will perform Amy Beach’s Piano Trio in A Minor, Op. 150 (which was composed late in her career and incorporates rich and romantic melodies) as well as Rebecca Clarke’s prominent piece Piano Trio (which showcases the harmonic language influenced by French and British styles).
“There is so much great repertoire that is under-performed, especially from women composers, and we feel it is essential to program and record these masterworks alongside the more well-known catalogue of piano trio repertoire,” said Williams, Neave Trio violinist.
“These women really broke down barriers and paved the way for future generations and we are excited to honor their unique contributions and voices.”
Tickets to the Sunday, November 10, 2019 event (which kicks off at 11 am EDT) at SubCulture are available for $20.
