Classical Post Awards 2019: Conspirare, Most Innovative Singer: Ensemble
A prominent choir since 1991, Conspirare is a Grammy-award winning and internationally recognized choir with a widespread reputation of “expanding the boundaries of choral performance” (Wall Street Journal). Led by founder and Artistic Director Craig Hella Johson, Conspirare (which means to breathe together in Latin), has had a stunning run—performing in concert halls and at festivals across the world, commissioning work from prominent composers, and bringing a commitment to new music and willingness to showcase a broad context through diverse programming.
Currently, this award-winning choir is touring with a project called Considering Matthew Shepard, a three-part oratorio composed by Craig Hella Johnson, which is an evocative and compassionate musical response to the murder of Matthew Shepard. The album, which received a Grammy nomination in 2016, had an impact that was “immediate, profound, and at times, overwhelming,” (The Washington Post).

📣 Free Masterclass for Artists
If you’ve enjoyed this conversation, I’d love to share something I created that expands on many of the ideas we explore here on Classical Post.
I recorded a free Masterclass designed specifically for classical musicians who want to:
✅ Book more concerts
✅ Increase their performance fees
✅ Build visibility with presenters, agents, and collaborators
This is the same visibility strategy I’ve used in my work with artists at Gold Sound Media—approaches that have helped them land major engagements and grow their careers in meaningful, measurable ways.
📩 Enter your email below and I’ll send you the link to watch the Masterclass on YouTube.
It’s practical, actionable, and designed for artists who are ready to stop waiting and start being seen.
