There’s nothing quite like Boston in the winter—the chilly weather, the citywide decorations, and the huge influx of holiday classical music concerts awaiting you every week. We’ve compiled a list of the must-attend classical music concerts happening this week in Beantown—you won’t want to miss them! 

MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2019 

INTO THE HOLIDAYS WITH CHAMBER SINGERS, SYMPHONIC WINDS, AND NAVY BAND NORTHEAST 

Concert Details:  One of the first holiday celebrations of the season, join in on this family-friendly choral and wins concert featuring popular holiday tunes (alongside festive Santa hats and seasonal sweaters!) This free concert will be conducted by Erica J. Washburn, William Drury, and Lt. Joel Borrelli-Boudreau.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2019 

LIEDERABEND

Concert Details:  Literally translating to evening of song, the Liederabend dates back to the 1800s when musicians and lovers of music would gather to sing, perform, and revel in music from composers of the day. Join Cameron Stowe and Tanya Blaich as they perform songs in a variety of languages, not only in German, dating from the 19th century to the present-day.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2019 

BORROMEO BEETHOVEN SEMINAR CONCERT

Concert Details:  Students coached by members of the Borromeo String Quartet perform works of Beethoven in a flight of free performances and a richness of artists’ talent. Don’t miss out!

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2019 

NEC AT THE BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY: HOLIDAY STRING QUARTET

Concert Details:  Join the NEC’s holiday String Quartet (made up of the NEC’s Community Performances and Partnerships fellows) in a cheerful holiday concert at the Boston Public Library. Featured artists include Jeein Kim, violin; Isabelle Durrenberger, violin; Halam Kim, viola; and Jasmine Pai, cello.  

When: Thursday, December 12, 2019. 2 PM, EDT.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2019 

GUEST PRESENTER: CELEBRITY SERIES 

Concert Details:  Enjoy a performance from one of the brightest young stars on the classical music scene, Sheku-Kanneh-Mason. After reaching fame worldwide following his performance at the Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Windsor Castle, he’s become an international sensation, traveling the world to perform.
