Pavarotti Anthology of 67 Recordings Released

“Pavarotti: The Greatest Hits,” a new album featuring 67 recordings from world-renowned opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, has been released by Decca Records. The album consists of three discs: “Opera Arias,” “Italian Songs & Sacred Arias” and “Great Duets.” The “Great Duets” disc showcases recordings with Andrea Bocelli, Céline Dion, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and more.

A three-disc anthology, the new album coincides with the release of the Ron Howard-directed documentary “Pavarotti,” which examines the life and career of the Italian opera singer.

Known as the “King of the High Cs,” Pavarotti stunned the world with his vocal performances, but his legacy extends beyond the limits of opera. His charismatic nature earned him a spotlight in pop culture, and his compassion motivated him to use his fame for charitable causes.

The new album features five previously unreleased duets recorded live at “Pavarotti & Friends” concerts, a series of benefit performances hosted by Pavarotti in his hometown of Modena, Italy between 1992 and 2003. The tracks include the voices of Barry White, James Brown, Lou Reed, Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor, and Sting.
