PYPA Launches Full-Scale Digital Piano Festival with Gary Graffman, Jerome Lowenthal, Ching-Yun Hu
Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy (PYPA) transforms into the first-ever, full-scale, digital piano festival this August 1 - 9, 2020 with increased opportunities at a highly discounted rate (50-70% off tuition). PYPA cares about the health and safety of its community, so in light of global circumstances, they will reimagine what a small-but-mighty arts organization can be during this time.
With the same legendary pedagogues like Gary Graffman (former Curtis Institute president) and Jerome Lowenthal (Juilliard pedagogue), Pierre van der Westhuizen (Director, Gilmore Keyboard Festival), the groundbreaking 2020 PYPA Online initiative positions most components of the in-person festival, and places it in a live streamed format for the benefit of young artists all around the world. Further, the general public may observe the digital festival through live streaming.
The all-star faculty will remain the same for the digital festival as previously announced for the in-person event, including Gary Graffman, Ching-Yun Hu, Jerome Lowenthal, Ursula Oppens, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Alexandre Moutouzkine, Gila Goldstein, Pierre van der Westhuizen, William Carr, and Kathryn Brown.
The public is invited to participate by watching the events via livestream. Observer Passes are available for purchase, which grants exclusive access to all of the events that PYPA Online offers from August 1 – 9, 2020.
126 Hours of Celebrity Master Classes given by Gary Graffman, Ching-Yun Hu, Jerome Lowenthal, Ursula Oppens, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Alexandre Moutouzkine.
4 Insider Lectures and Panel Discussions by top music professionals, such as Gilmore Keyboard Festival director, Pierre van der Westhuizen.
4 Exclusive Studio Concerts performed by PYPA young artists, led by esteemed guest faculty, Gila Goldstein of Tanglewood Institute for Young Artists, Kathryn Brown of Cleveland Institute of Music, and William Carr of Immaculata University.
Audience Q & A after Lectures/Concerts: All lectures and studio concerts conclude with Q & A sessions with audience members.
