Conductor Shiyeon Sung found her passion for classical music at a young age, through starting piano at 4 years old and her mother’s love for the same music. Though she thrived as a pianist and won many youth competitions, she developed a problem with her arm and had to stop playing for a while.

Organist, conductor, and music director Greg Morris simply loves the classical life. Though he dabbled briefly in academic music, he quickly discovered he wanted to know how best to perform the music in the here and now, so he decided it was best to get on and do that. “I was lucky enough to find the opportunities to do it and make a living at the same time,” Greg said.

Conductor Donato Cabrera is set to begin his 2018-2019 season, including his sixth season with the California Symphony and fifth season with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, celebrates ongoing growth and success with both organizations. Cabrera’s programming showcases not only the celebrated symphonic repertoire, but also music by acclaimed living composers demonstrating his commitment to keeping the art form relevant and vital.

Long Yu, China’s pre-eminent conductor on the international scene, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO) have signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. The new partnership is set to build on Long Yu’s critically acclaimed work as Music Director of the SSO and help promote the orchestra’s powerful blend of tradition and ambitious future vision. It will also enhance the SSO’s “Music Connecting Worlds” ethos. Their first DG recording, an album of works from the Chinese and Russian repertoires, will be released in 2019 to mark the SSO’s 140th anniversary and celebrate its status as China’s earliest symphony orchestra. In addition to making new albums with the orchestra, Deutsche Grammophon will also release earlier recordings from the SSO’s existing catalogue.
