The Quartet Will Return to North America as One of the Most Prominent Musical Voices in the Celebration of Beethoven’s 250th Year

The Danish String Quartet was recently named Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year—not only is this an honored achievement in itself, but also an achievement that comes just in time for their return to North America as one of the most prominent musical voices in the celebration of Beethoven’s 250th year.

The quartet, often noted for its fresh and inventive approach to repertoire (as well as their highly emotional and warm performances), has delighted audiences since the ensemble established.

This recent accolade only continues to prove what critics have noted about the ensemble all along—they thrill, delight, and impact their expansive audiences.

With the announcement of their recent award comes the additional announcement of the ensemble’s three, sweeping North American tours that will focus solely on the towering Beethoven string quartets, alongside other important works which were inspired, and inspired by, these giants of the classical canon.

As a part of a three-year residency with the La Jolla Music Society, the Danish String Quartet will also bring a series of five concerts that are set to mirror the programs in its ongoing recording project with ECM New Series, PRISM.

The first recording, PRISM I, was released in 2018 and was nominated for a Grammy®. The second release, PRISM II, was released on September 13, 2019.

Detailed information about the award-winning Danish String Quartet is available on their website—ticket prices, tour dates, and specific concert information varies.
