During this difficult moment, we are turning to live streams and recorded concerts to keep classical music in our lives. The following 5 listings provide listeners with chamber music, orchestral music, contemporary music, and a world-wide musical exchange to keep the music going.

Virtual Philadelphia Orchestra: BeethovenNOW

Audiences can watch a specially curated program of chamber music performed by members of The Philadelphia Orchestra from their homes on Thursday, April 16, at 8 PM ET. Violinists Julia Li and Christine Lim, violist Che-Hung Chen, and Assistant Principal Cello Yumi Kendall will perform the first movement of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 6. Other highlights include the first movement of Beethoven’s Sextet in E-flat major, Beethoven’s Serenade in D major, Op. 8, and Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 1, Op. 12, No. 1.      

Lincoln Center at Home: #ConcertsForKids

For the youngest classical music fans, Lincoln Center teams up with a remarkable group of artists to bring world-class performances and diverse musical perspectives straight from their homes to yours. These short performances recorded by the artists themselves will continue all month long!

Music on the Rebound: The World Wide Tuning Meditation

Music on the Rebound and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) present The World Wide Tuning Meditation on Saturday April 18 and April 25, 2020 at 5pm EDT. IONE, Claire Chase, and Raquel Acevedo Klein lead a global performance of the late Pauline Oliveros’ The World Wide Tuning Meditation, a sonic gathering with a legacy of bringing communities together through meditative singing. Anyone from anywhere in the world is invited to join in via Zoom to sing together from their personal phone or computer. No music experience is necessary. 

Miller Symphony Hall @ Home

To help audiences stay connected to the music that they love, Miller Symphony Hall launches Miller Symphony @ Home. This online platform features past performances, intimate live recordings, and a connection to the best online content from talented partners like the Met Opera. Highlights include recordings of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. This month they are rebroadcasting the massive Verdi’s Requiem with guest soloists including the breathtaking soprano Toni-Marie Palmertree.

American Composer’s Orchestra: Connecting ACO Community

American Composers Orchestra has launched a new project called Connecting ACO Community to commission composers to write new solo works to be premiered on Zoom on Sundays at 5pm EST beginning April 19.

Sunday, April 26, 2020 at 5pm EST: Shara Nova & Ahya Simone, harp
